Alpha Factor UK Invitational 2007

10 gymnasts made the long trip to Wiltshire to represent Diamonds in the 2007 Alpha Factor UK Invitational accompanied by Mr Smithies and Paul Plumpton as the coaches and Helen, Jackie and Jo as judges.

For most of these gymnasts it was their first trip to a voluntary competition outside of Yorkshire. It was also the first time that jo had judged outside of the Region.

All of the gymnasts performed new moves successfully in this competition. Highlights included Laura and Kim performing tuck back somi on beam, Nikki competing a smersault vault, Vic competing a full twist on the floor and Katy with a double front somersault on floor.

Yorkshire Levels Competition

Diamonds Gymnastic Club recently played host to the annual Yorkshire Levels Competition, one of the main Women's Artistic gymnastic competitions of the year.

In the Level 4 in-age competition, Georgina Harris continued her winning ways, taking the gold medal and by doing so booked her place in the National finals at Guildford in November.

In the Level 4 10-11 year olds category, Danielle O'Sullivan managed a creditable bronze medal thanks to a superb floor routine.

The Level 3 11-12 year olds category resulted in a clean sweep for Diamonds. Victoria Harris, Chloe Sykes and Laura Walker took gold, silver and bronze respectively. In level 3 13+ category Kim Ward got a first taste of success with a well earned silver medal.

These results confirm that Diamonds Gymnastic Club continues to establish itself as the premier gymnastic club in the Yorksire region and continues to pursue its goal of being a force to reckon with nationally.

You're Never Too Old!

Two gymnasts from Diamonds Gymnastic Club made the long journey down to Ipswich last weekend to compete in the British Gymnastics Veterans Championships.

Julie Brumby and Joanna Earnshaw had been training hard on Sunday afternoons for the last twelve months to perfect the skills they needed to compete against the best in Britain.

The journey back seemed a lot shorter than the Friday night trip down to Ipswich, mainly because Julie won the gold medal, becoming the Ladies Over 40's National Champion. Her much inproved handspring vault and a delightful floor routine which included two flics put her in an unassailable position.

Jo finished just outside the medals in the under 30's category. Again the floor and vault were her best pieces, but two falls on beam put the medals beyond her reach.
