the Diamonds Gymnastic Club Newsletter. We aim to keep you
in the picture regarding all aspects of the club.
Launch Of Our New Web Site
In September our brand new web site has
been launched to bring you all the latest information about
the club. The site will be updated regularly to bring you
news about the latest competitions, results, events and club
information. As the site develops over the following months,
we hope to introduce lots more features and we sincerely hope
that you enjoy your visit.
Diamonds Gymnastic Club - Founded
2003
The new club has only come about because
of the dedication and hard work of a great number of Parents
and Coaches. We are extremely grateful to all those who have
lent a hand to help establish the the facility. There are
numerous people we want to recognise for their efforts, but
saying thank you is our starting point. A big thank you to
everyone in getting the club up and running in such a short
space of time. To establish the club has meant a great deal
of work, some of which meant really hard physical graft, but
also many hours spent behind the scenes.
Special thanks go out to Sandra Mallas
and Paul Smith for their monetary donations to the club. We
would also like to express our thanks to Graham Doodson for
the donations of wood and materials for work carried out at
the gym at Fenton Road. The gym at Fenton Road would not had
been open yet if people had not put in such a massive amount
of time and effort. Thank you to every one who put the time
in.
We know that to continue developing the
club it will take a lot of hard work, but with the right sort
of attitude and effort we are hopeful that Diamonds can become
the premier club in Yorkshire. At the moment membership is
well over 500 and growing steadily.

Laura Wadsorth Reaches
National Finals! |
|
|
|
Laura Wadsworth, Saffron Sutcliffe
and Rebecca Mallas all gained a pass mark in their Grade
4 Compulsory Competition. Laura took the Bronze medal
in this event and qualified to compete in the National
Finals.
Laura did well in her first National
competition, representing Yorkshire at Grade 4. The
standard of competition was very high and Laura did
outstanding work with her conditioning set. Despite
not gaining a medal it was great honour for Diamonds
to have Laura represent the club at this event. Again,
well done Laura and keep up the good work.

Joelle O'Neil gained 1st place in the
Grade 3 Compulsory Finals with a good all round performance.
Ruth Wilkinson finished 8th in the same event.
Victoria Hendry produced a more consistent
performance finishing in 11th position in the regional Intermediate
event.
Katy Sellers, who fits in a full training
programme as well as studying full time at University, gained
a very commendable 8th position in the British Elite Finals
held at Liverpool. High point of the day was Katy's performance
on bars in which she finished in first place.
Well done to all the gymnasts on their
efforts.

Girls 4 Piece Novice
Competition |
|
|
|
Some of our younger Gymnasts travelled
to the Novice 4 Piece Competition at Dewsbury.
The girls - Chloe Sykes, Chloe
Davey, Laura Walker and Victoria Harris performed really
well despite having to master a number of new moves.
Chloe Sykes in her first competition gave a good account
of herself and should look forward to enjoying more
success in the future.
Laura and Chloe looked very good
on floor with Chloe scoring the top mark of the day
in this section. Victoria had her best competition to
date and gained a very well earned Bronze medal for
a really good day's work. Well done to all the girls.

Summer Holiday Gymnastics
During the Summer holidays we successfully
ran a number of daytime gym classes. We hope to be running
these classes during future holidays.
Foundation Classes - General Gym
Welcome to any new gymnasts who have
just started with Diamonds. We hope you are enjoying learning
new skills and stay with the club for a long time.
Whether you are training once a week
or six times a week, we hope that you really enjoy the experience.
These classes are open to anyone of school
age and are the perfect way to get started in the sport of
gymnastics.
Congratulations!
We would like to offer our congratulations
to Grant Ellis and Nicola on their recent marriage and wish
them every happiness.
Thanks to the gymnasts who made the reception
party go with a swing with their display.
Also recently married coach Daniel Greenwood
and Debra. Daniel is laid low with a knee injury - no connection
to the wedding. All the best to both couples.
Squads Who Train At Fenton Road
Any gymnasts who attend classes at the
Fenton Road Gym are obliged to pay each month prior to training
in that class. If parents wish to pay by using a standing
order please contact a member of staff for details.

The Junior section of TeamGym have been
invited to put on a display at the next Regional Floor and
Vault Competition. We are sure that this will be well received
at this event.

ready for the Yorkshire Regional competition at Dewsbury sports
centre on Sunday 2nd November.
